Attractions - Orchards

Agricultural history, Missouri farming history,

America’s history!

The Orchards at Hermann Farm will display native fruit trees that were grown by central Missouri farm families in the mid to late 1800s.  Our heirloom fruit trees include Pear, Peach, Cherry and several varieties of Apple trees.

Once harvested, these fruits will be used to make Applejack, Cider and other fruit beverages.

Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the growing cycle of trees, the harvest schedule, and the many ways to enjoy the delicious fruit.

At Hermann Farm, we are dedicated to promoting the science, culture, and pleasure of growing fruit. Visit our fruit orchards at Hermann Farm and find peace in the beauty of nature’s bounty!

Farm Fact:

In the early 1850s, George Husmann, and Charles Manwaring were partners in Hermann Nurseries, a business which provided trees, as well as a whole range of exotic plants….ginkgo from China, orange and lemon trees, and imported plants and seeds from Europe…to customers throughout the country.
