Taste of the Arts

On June 7th and 8th, Dierberg Educational Foundation sponsored the second annual Taste for the Arts event at the Hofgarten. The two day festival of music and art was made possible with a grant from First Bank and was coordinated by East Central College.

The weekend featured free performances by some of the most talented musicians in the region including the Arianna String Quartet, Javier Mendoza Band, Nuclear
Percussion Ensemble, Paul DeMarinis Quintet, sounds from Argentina, Steve Schenkel Sextet and a pops concert by the Saint Louis Chamber Orchestra performing favorites from Broadway and the silver screen. Guitarist Jeff Noonan was joined by mezzo soprano Nancy Bristol for a concert highlighting 400 years of love songs.

The outdoor art exhibit held in the Hofgarten courtyard showcased an array of juried works by notable artists from the region which included displays of paintings, drawings, prints, photos, jewelry, wood, glass, textiles/fiber, mixed media pieces, and other items for sale.
