Hermann Farm hosts and participates in a variety of artisan festivals and educational programs which celebrate the history and heritage of rural Missouri. Through exhibits and demonstrations which represent the past and the seasonal work cycle of an 1860s era family farm, the Hermann Farm provides unique opportunities to learn about our rural past and celebrate our German heritage.

Come experience a historical perspective of life in early Hermann, thus establishing a link between the past and present.  See below for upcoming events and photo albums from previously held events. For more information Contact Us.

Hermann's Culinary Arts:

Cheese Making Sessions at Dierberg Star Lane Tasting Room

Starting August 31, 2010

Series will run for 5 weeks, Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

$200 per person which includes all materials.
Classes will be held at the Dierberg Star Lane Tasting Room at 338 E. First, next door to Hermannhof Winery.

While cheese making is in theory a science, we also need to appreciate that it is an art. Often cheese making instructions appear simple, but there are skills and sensitivities one must develop for successful cheese making. And that's where a class in cheese making can help with a successful outcome with your first effort in crafting artisanal cheese.

Students will take home cheese molds, cheesecloth, printed recipes and a thermometer. Learn the basics of techniques to make Farmer's Cheese, Brie, Cheddar and Mozarella! This will be the last session for the summer.
We are taking names for future classes.

Hermann Country Fair

September 11th and 12th

Saturday and Sunday open from 10am to 4pm

Plans are underway for the 2nd Annual Country Fair sponsored by the Hermann Farm & Museum. A visit by the Montgomery County Old Thresher's Association along with Percheron draft horses, Clydesdales hitched for carriage rides, a variety of vendors offering everything from jams and jellies to locally produced honey products and apple butter simmering over an open fire creates a family atmosphere that's hard to beat. Foods, music, literature, arts, folk crafts and farm land critters all help celebrate our rural heritage. Fun for all ages.

A Lewis and Clark Christmas

December 4th and 5th, 2010

Saturday and Sunday open from 10am to 4pm

During Lewis and Clark's time, holiday celebrations were much more modest than those we know today. Socializing and special food would have been the focal points of the winter celebrations rather than decorations or lavish gifts. Come celebrate a Christmas with Meriwether Lewis and William Clark in old world style. Meet Sacajawea, Thomas Jefferson, Toussant Charbeneau, and all the players from the original Corps of Discovery Expedition. Participate in a Lantern Parade through the streets of historic Hermann, meet traditional craftsmen at work and experience a living history of an old holiday celebration. The customs that we think of today as traditional ways of celebrating Christmas, particularly the decorating of evergreen trees with seed pods, feathers, Osage orange, and strings of cranberries and popcorn all derive from old folkways and evolved through the course of time. A festive sumptuous dinner is held at the Festhalle, bedecked for the season, and is open to the public.
